Buffer vs Multivio for agencies

Small agencies often run Buffer, or another scheduler, for calendars, queues and per-channel captions — and a separate stack for CapCut, Midjourney, or a designer when they need media. Multivio is built so Generate, Edit and Compose sit in one workspace: make or finish the asset, then publish or schedule to Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and four more networks. This page is for agencies choosing between those shapes of work. For a short feature table, see Multivio vs Buffer. Multivio is paid from day one, no free tier.

The agency week: two stack shapes

Shape A — Buffer stays the queue

  1. Designer, CapCut, Midjourney, or a client drive makes the asset.
  2. The social lead exports and drops it into Buffer.
  3. Buffer helps tailor captions per channel, queue, and publish.
  4. Approvals and engagement happen in Buffer, or in Slack plus Buffer.
  5. Reporting leans on Buffer Insights, or a separate sheet.

This shape wins when creative already lives elsewhere and the bottleneck is ops around finished assets.

Shape B — Multivio as make, finish, publish

  1. In Generate, draft an image or video with AI models. Credits meter image and video generation.
  2. In Edit, trim, subtitle, or resize before it leaves the workspace.
  3. In Compose, write and format captions per network, preview, then publish now or schedule.
  4. On Team, roles and in-review states gate who can publish.
  5. Analytics: Multivio has a dashboard. This guide does not claim client-ready reporting parity with a full suite.

This shape wins when the bottleneck is making and finishing the post for several networks, not only queuing it. The public suite labels are Generate, Edit and Compose. If the file already exists outside Multivio, see CapCut to Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn and schedule Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn from one place. This page does not claim every external file has been shown end to end.

Where Buffer usually wins for agencies

  • You already have assets. Designers, freelancers, or CapCut handle creative. You mainly need a calendar, a queue and per-channel publishing.
  • You want a free or low-commitment start. Buffer publicly offers a free plan and trial options on paid plans (verify on Buffer). Multivio has no free tier and no free trial.
  • You need broad network coverage. Buffer's public materials mention extras beyond Multivio's seven (for example Bluesky, Mastodon, or Google Business Profile — verify). Multivio does not list Pinterest or those extras.
  • Insights and an engagement inbox matter most. The Multivio vs Buffer page treats mature Insights and engagement tooling as a Buffer strength. Multivio is focused on create, finish, then publish.
  • If your team never generates media in the tool, Multivio's credit-based model is the wrong fit. Stay on Buffer, or a similar scheduler.

Where Multivio usually wins for agencies

  • The hop is the pain: CapCut, Midjourney, or an export, then Buffer, then a re-upload, then a caption and aspect fix per network, repeated for every client.
  • One finished piece should land on several networks from Compose — Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, plus X, Facebook, YouTube and Threads — without leaving the workspace.
  • You want AI image and video generation inside the same product as scheduling, metered in credits, with unlimited text AI (captions, hashtags, planning, translations) on paid plans.
  • Unlimited channels on paid plans. There is no per-channel fee in the Multivio plan price. Compare credit needs on Multivio pricing. Compare channel count on Buffer's pricing page.
  • Team adds seats, roles, and shared workspace media for two or more people running client work together.

Compose vs Autopilot

Do not treat these as the same feature. Multipublish is Compose.

Compose compared with Autopilot
NameWhat it does
ComposeMultipublish and schedule: a chat workspace that writes and formats per platform, attaches media, and publishes now or schedules.
AutopilotDrafts posts per brand and waits for a person's approval before anything is scheduled. Nothing goes out until someone approves.

Autopilot is not one-shot multi-platform publishing. That is Compose.

Approvals and client work

  • Team workspaces have roles: owner, admin, editor, and viewer. A post can be marked in review. Publishing depends on role.
  • That is not a client portal and not white-label. Do not assume an outside client can log in only as an approver.
  • The pricing page also lists a shared brand kit, a shared media library, and an audit log on Team. This page lists those labels and does not describe brand-kit or audit-log screens.
  • Solo Pro and Creator+ include one workspace. Max includes up to three personal workspaces. Team's plan limits do not cap how many workspaces you can add. Media sits on a workspace. People in that workspace share its library.

If white-label, a client portal, or bulk CSV scheduling are must-haves today, a full social suite may fit better. Several of those appear on the public roadmap as in progress or planned. This page does not ship them.

When Multivio is the wrong choice

  • Client reporting, white-label, social listening, or bulk CSV scheduling are must-haves now.
  • A free scheduler already covers your volume and you never generate in the tool.
  • You need networks Multivio does not list, including Pinterest.
  • You want a tool that runs client accounts with no human review. No tool should.

FAQ

Is Multivio a Buffer alternative for agencies?

For scheduling finished posts, Buffer remains a strong, focused choice. Multivio is an alternative when your agency wants AI generation, finishing and multi-destination publish in one workspace — not when you only need a queue. See also the short Multivio vs Buffer page.

Should we keep Buffer and add Multivio?

Some teams keep a scheduler for ops and use Multivio only where generation and multipublish removes hops. Others consolidate into Compose. This page does not prescribe one stack. Measure one client’s week before you rip anything out.

Which social networks can Multivio publish to?

Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, Threads — seven. Paid plans include unlimited connected channels. Multivio does not list Pinterest.

How is Multivio priced vs Buffer?

Buffer publicly offers a free plan and paid plans typically priced per channel. Verify current numbers on Buffer. Multivio has no free tier. You pay a flat monthly plan with a credit allowance for AI image and video generation, and unlimited channels on paid plans. Compare credit needs on Multivio pricing. Compare channel count on Buffer.

What is Compose vs Autopilot?

Compose is multipublish and scheduling from a chat workspace. Autopilot drafts posts per brand and waits for approval before scheduling. They are not the same feature.

Can clients approve posts inside Multivio?

Team has roles and in-review and publish rights for people in the workspace. There is no client portal. Do not assume an outside client can be invited only as an approver.

Does Multivio replace CapCut or our designers?

No. Edit helps finish assets in the browser. Generation quality varies by model and brief — review everything before it goes out. CapCut and designers remain valid when creative already lives outside Multivio.

Is there a free tier or free trial?

No. Multivio is paid from day one. Pro is $20 per month with 50% extra credits the first month. Cancel anytime from Settings.

How does Team pricing work?

Team is $30 per seat per month with a 2-seat minimum ($60 floor). Each seat adds 500 credits to a shared pool (750 per seat in the first month). A 5-person agency pays $150 per month for a 2,500-credit pool. The public Team button is Talk to sales, which opens the contact page.
